How Is It in Kiev? Nine Degrees Inside

DSC_0448

Dear L.,

The temperature in my room is 9 degrees, thankĀ God, above zero, and I hope you are in a warmer place than me now. However, your Chengdu, I bet, is far from being a paradise at this time of year, as well. Btw, it is elections day today in Ukraine but not all houses have the heating yet. Strange, they usually become more agile before the voting. Just imagine the East coast of China without central heating, but with its winds and rains, and you are here beside me, in Kiev right now. I have three sweaters on me at the moment, a pair of gloves, a scarf, thermo-pants, two pairs of socks and a down blanket on top of everything. Only my nose sticks out and signals with its frozen tip that it is, actually, not a jungle. Though, I am lucky to have abundant hot showers every day and, above all, the freshness and crispness of air helps me to sleep well and dream sweeter.

Wishing you a warmer November,

Your

O.

“I’m wearing three sweaters, a pair of gloves, a scarf, thermo-pants, two pairs of socks and a down blanket on top of everything.” – I think I felt equally cold only once in my life, and it was in China.
